Viticulture
 |
We
are committed to growing the best winegrapes possible using
a combination of hand and machine work to nurture the vines
from pruning to harvest. Most of our grapes are grown on the
VSP trellis system modified, depending on row direction, to
make full use of positive morning sun exposure and restricting
the negative effects of hot afternoons. |
| Between
rows are either disked or cover cropped depending on age and
overall vigor of the block. Irrigation is applied based on Reduced
Deficit Irrigation principles in the older blocks - using our
own Pressure Bomb - younger blocks are nurtured with appropriate
irrigation strategies. Crop is thinned as necessary. |
 |
 |
Pre-Harvest
sugar testing follows a random cluster sampling method that
guarantees accurate results. Using our own Gator and stainless
steel crusher we gather whole clusters by the lug to remove
the lower sugar inner berry bias. Juice samples can be provided.
|
| Harvesting
can be accomplished by hand or by machine. All hand harvested
grapes are field sorted - either on a sort table on top of the
2 ton valley bins or while 1/2 ton cubes are being filled. Grapes
to be machine harvested have second crop removed in the field
before harvest. |

You
are welcomed into the vineyard at any time but please call in
advance to make sure we are not spraying!
